Women's September Fly Fishing Event
A beautiful fall day at Max McGraw Foundation in Dundee, Illinois! September 28th women from around the area joined us for an introduction to fly fishing event.
In a classroom setting, participants were provided an historical perspective of women’s contributions to fly fishing. We reviewed the basics of gear and casting techniques. Using practice rods, each woman practiced the basics of casting. Then came to question: where do I fish around here? So we discussed the local rivers, ponds, and lakes.
We viewed the new Women in TU video and discussed conservation efforts. After lunch, it was time to put the techniques to the test on the pond at Max McGraw. And yes, we did hear FISH ON!
Participants received a bag (compliments of Cabela’s) and a TU fly box with flies (compliments of our fly tying guys Barry and Darwin)
Thanks to Max McGraw and Cabela’s in Hoffman Estates for co-hosting. And thanks to the TU volunteers Darwin and Evelyn Adams, Laura Andersen, and Barry and Myra Coddens.
